Welcome to Year 1 and Year 1/2!

We hope you had a relaxing break and enjoyed your Easter celebrations!

We would like to revise the following:

School Uniforms

Full Isabella State School uniform is required every day. This also includes closed in shoes (no thongs) and a broad brim hat.

School times

Students are expected to be inside their classroom when they hear the 8:50am bell. This ensures that they are ready for learning to begin promptly at 9:00am. School finishes at 3:00pm and it is important that your child knows how they are getting home or where they are to be collected.  Students should not be at school before 8:00am. If they do arrive before 8:00am they are required to sit on the pathway outside the administration/staffroom building until the 8am bell when they can go to either the Central or Junior covered areas.

If your child is away please ensure the school is aware of the reason for their absence. This can be done by replying to the automated text message, sending a note or calling the absence line on 4040 8760. Remember every day counts!

Please ensure your child has a labelled healthy lunch and a drink bottle filled with water only every day. We have limited fridge space so it would be appreciated if your child brought their lunch in a small rectangular lunchbox. Large cooler bags are not required. If your child has a tuckshop order it needs to be given to the tuckshop before school or put in the tuckshop basket in the classroom at the start of the day. In 2018 there were changes to our rubbish disposal process. All food scraps will be collected in the food scrap bin, however any other rubbish your child has including plastic wrapping and packets will be brought home in their lunchbox.

Homework will begin in Week 3. It will be handed out on Monday and should be returned on Friday. There is a homework sheet which includes your child’s spelling words and an activity.  There will also be some maths revision to work on.

Please ensure your child has the necessary stationery and supplies to start each school day and that you have paid for all resources. These resources are used every day.

This term we will be focussing on the following units:

English: Interpreting narratives to write a character description and reciting & performing poetry.

Maths:  Numbers to 100 and number concepts, addition and subtraction, position, direction, 2D & 3D shapes, money, events and chance and data.

Science:  Learning about Materials, their qualities, where they are sourced and what they are used for and we will be creating products with a variety of materials.

HASS:  Exploring concepts and terms used to describe the passing of time.  Students will also learn about important family celebrations, including birthdays.  Students will need to know the date of their birthday.  Thank you for revising this with your child.
