Welcome to Year 4 at Isabella State School. We are looking forward to an exciting and rewarding year.

We would like to reiterate the importance of student attendance and the crucial role this plays in your child’s success at school. Every Day is important for each and every student and we stress the need for each child to attend school as frequently as possible to assist with their learning success. Attendance of all students is monitored daily, if your child is going to be absent please inform the office.

Homework is consistent across the cohort and commences in Week 2. If you or your child have any difficulties with homework please contact your classroom teacher.

Students will be going on an excursion to Daradgee Educational Centre during Term 2.  All students have been reminded that to attend an excursion students need to be on a C-B-A behaviour.

Students will undertake assessments of all units apart from HASS in weeks 6-7. The HASS assessment will be an ongoing assessment that students will complete throughout Term 2. It is very important that students are at school especially in these assessment periods.

Following is a brief run down of what the students will be learning in Term Two.

  • English - students will focus on traditional stories and will be tasked with writing their own traditional story with a clear moral.
  • Maths - students will learn about the properties of odd and even numbers, multiplication and division facts, interpreting maps and classifying angles.
  • Science - students will be studying living and non-living things and will focus on life cycles and key stages in the life cycles of plants and animals.
  • HASS - students will continue to investigate the exploration of Australia. They will also consider factors that shape a person's identity and sense of belonging as well as the importance of laws in society.
  • Health & Physical Education - students will investigate healthy choices and how to better understand.
  • Students will continue to participate in the Spelling Mastery program.
  • Digital Technologies - students use Microsoft Excel to collect and manipulate data to create information. They will also describe how a familiar information system is used and draw, identify and explain data types and representations.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact your child’’s teacher to discuss your concerns. We look forward to meeting you in the near future.
