Health and Physical Education offers experiential learning, with a curriculum that is relevant, engaging, contemporary, physically active, enjoyable and developmentally appropriate. Integral to Health and Physical Education is the acquisition of movement skills, concepts and strategies that enable students to participate in a range of physical activities confidently and competently.

In Health and Physical Education, students develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to support them to be resilient, to develop a strong sense of self, to build and maintain satisfying relationships, to make health-enhancing decisions in relation to their health and physical activity participation, and to develop health literacy competencies in order to enhance their own and others’ health and wellbeing.

Health and Physical Education is broken into two strands; personal, social and community health and movement and physical activity. Physical Education at Isabella State School is taught by a specialist PE teacher with Health taught in the classroom or by a health teacher.

In PE lessons, students engage in learning focused on moving their body, understanding movement and learning through movement. Isabella State School offers a range of whole school programs/events including:

  • swim program
  • cross country carnival
  • track & field carnival
  • gala day
  • school based netball, rugby league and hockey teams

There are many and varied opportunities for students at Isabella State School to engage in sport at both a school and representative level. The representative sporting pathway for our students is through the Trinity Coast South district sporting teams.
